Chapter 15 The Prince Has the Capital to Be Proud
Girls went to private schools just to improve themselves, and they didn't have to take the imperial examinations, so they didn't have to get up early and go to bed late like boys did.
Qin Xiaoning got up half an hour earlier than usual, but the sun was already high in the sky.
After washing up, she combed her hair into a proper bun and pinned it with a jade hairpin. She pinned a crabapple flower on her temples. She wore a moon-white skirt with light purple patterns. She was not ostentatious, but not shabby either.
It fits her identity.
Qin Xiaoning picked up the school bag that she had packed yesterday, but she didn't take the piece of Hui ink that Lu Ji gave her.
It's too expensive and not suitable for her status. If it gets out, it will be suspected that she is spoiled.
Qin Xiaoning came out of her back porch and when she passed the main house, she subconsciously looked inside and saw that Lu Ji was there. He was leaning on the couch in the outer room, reading a book. One leg was stretched out and the other was bent, with the book in his hand resting on his knee, reading attentively.
Although Lu Ji is a military general, this prince who was carefully educated by the mansion has cultural attainments comparable to those great scholars in the Hanlin Academy.
When Lu Ji was young, he followed the third son of the second house, who had always been a scholar. When the third son was still struggling to become a tribute student, Lu Ji had already passed the joint examination and was just one step away from entering the palace examination to win the top three.
And this achievement was not obtained by his hard study like those scholars. The Ningguo Mansion started out as a military force, and although it also focused on cultivating its children to gain fame, the princes of all generations were military officers. Therefore, Lu Ji spent most of his time learning riding, archery and military tactics since he was young. Although his main focus was not on studying, his knowledge has always been outstanding.
So, although the Lu family's eldest son is proud, he does have the capital to be proud.
No matter which one it is, it is the best.
"What are you doing standing there?" Lu Ji noticed her and shifted his gaze from the book to her. He said in an unruly tone, "Are you trying to peek at me, my prince?"
It seemed like this guy had completely forgotten what happened yesterday, and he was still a little naughty towards her as before.
But as long as he doesn't go as far as he did yesterday, Qin Xiaoning will always tolerate him.
"I was passing by and happened to see the prince's stunning beauty. I was dazzled and that's why I took a few more glances at him."
She echoed him, joking.
Lu Ji smiled, put down the book in his hand, waved at her, and when Qin Xiaoning came closer, he looked her up and down, and said in a condescending tone: "Since you want to study in a private school, then study hard and don't embarrass me."
Qin Xiaoning nodded and turned to ask him, "Your Highness is a new official, so you don't have to go on duty today?" Then he smiled and said, "Could it be that you took a leave of absence specifically to send me to the private school?"
Lu Ji snorted coldly and replied to her with three words: "You wish!"
I knew he wasn't a gentle person.
Qin Xiaoning snorted back at him, and turned to leave, but was stopped by Lu Ji. He stood up from the couch, stood in front of her, lowered his eyes and stared at her, and asked, "You don't dare to go?"
His attitude was concerned, as if he had really changed his personality.
To be honest, although she had Lu Ji's support and no one in the private school dared to bully her, she was still a little scared after the first day.
It's not that I'm afraid, it's just that I'm going to a new environment all of a sudden, so I'm a little bit afraid of strangers. Qin Xiaoning looked at Lu Ji, her attitude was surprisingly soft, pinching the corner of her clothes, and replied hesitantly: "It's not that I don't dare to go, it's just that it's the first day, it would be best if someone could accompany me."
Lu Ji looked at her and said gently: "Do you want me to go with you?"
Glancing at the light that suddenly appeared in the little girl's eyes, he said mischievously, "No way!"
This person really can't change his bad habits.
Qin Xiaoning was tricked by him and was so angry that her teeth itched. She rolled her eyes at him fiercely and turned away: "You want to accompany me? Humph! I don't care either."
The little girl walked to the door in a rage, only to see the sixth girl running into the yard with her school supplies. When she saw Qin Xiaoning, before she even entered the house, she shouted, "Sister Qin, I heard from my second brother that you are also going to a private school. That's great. This time I have a companion."
Qin Xiaoning was puzzled: "You took a detour to find me?"
The Sixth Miss lifted her skirt and went up the steps. She glanced at Lu Ji standing beside her and asked in confusion, "Didn't my second brother send someone to tell me yesterday to bring my sister over? How could Sister Qin not know?"
Don't think that Lu Ji always acts unserious with Qin Xiaoning. In front of others, even his own brothers and sisters, he always looks steady and dignified.
"It's Sister Qin's first day there, so please take care of her." Lu Ji walked over and instructed his sister seriously.
"Don't worry, second brother. This is our own private school. No one can bully Sister Qin." After saying that, he took Qin Xiaoning's arm and walked out happily.
Before leaving the hospital, Qin Xiaoning turned around and saw Lu Ji still standing in the corridor looking at her. She smiled at him as if rewarding him.
The Ningguo Duke's Mansion is divided into two parts, the West Mansion and the West Mansion. The West Mansion has the Ningguo Duke and the second master's brothers, who are the eldest branch and inherit the title. The East Mansion is the closest branch to the eldest branch and has three branches.
There are currently seven young ladies in the Lu family's private school. There are the unmarried fifth and sixth girls. In addition, there are three girls from the East Palace of the Ningguo Mansion, namely the fourth, seventh and eighth girls.
There are two other young ladies, who are the daughters of the family of old friends of the mansion.
The girls are of similar age, ranging from fourteen or fifteen to seventeen or eighteen years old.
The teachers who taught the courses were all female teachers who were hired at a high price. Occasionally, for courses involving classics, history, and literature, old scholars from the men's school would come to teach.
Qin Xiaoning followed the Sixth Miss into the private school. Almost all the other young ladies had arrived. When they saw the Sixth Miss leading a fairy-like girl into the door, all eyes were on Qin Xiaoning. Before anyone else could speak, the Sixth Miss took the lead in introducing her: "This is someone close to my second brother. Her surname is Qin and her name is Xiaoning. My second brother asked the principal to let Sister Qin study with us."
The people around the prince, are they concubines?
Some people didn't recognize Qin Xiaoning and were curious, but since the Sixth Miss brought up the Young Master, no one dared to show what they had in mind, and they just followed the Sixth Miss in greeting Qin Xiaoning.
The Sixth Girl pulled Qin Xiaoning to sit next to her.
This morning, we learned the Book of Songs and practiced calligraphy. In the afternoon, a female teacher taught us cooking and playing the zither.
Qin Xiaoning had been with Lu Ji for so many years and was literate. Plus, the courses in the girls' school were not difficult, so she was able to keep up. However, although Lu Ji had taught her the art of playing the piano before, he was a man with little patience. He always thought she was stupid and scolded her all the time. Later, Qin Xiaoning got so angry that she stopped learning from him.
She didn't prepare a piano for today's piano lesson, but the female piano teacher surnamed Su treated her inexplicably kindly and took the initiative to lend her her own piano.
