Chapter 87 I Shouldn't Ask for Fairness from You
Lu Ji was standing in front of the car waiting.
He had a tall and straight figure, dressed in ink-colored brocade clothes and a black cloak. He looked cool and aloof. He stood in the wind, the autumn wind lifting his sleeves, making a rustling sound.
Knowing that he had no patience and worried that he would get angry if she waited too long, Qin Xiaoning quickened her pace and rushed over. She stepped on the bench and tried to get on the carriage by herself, but her legs were so weak that she tried twice and couldn't lift her feet. So she took her hands off the carriage door, climbed on the shaft, and planned to climb up. Just as she was about to exert force, Lu Ji grabbed her with his big hand and threw her into the carriage.
Qin Xiaoning staggered and sat down on the couch. She was so exhausted that she collapsed. She was about to take off her shoes and lie down on the large couch when she saw Lu Ji, who always liked riding horses, getting on the carriage for the first time.
Qin Xiaoning had no choice but to give up and sat back on the couch, moving to one side to leave a large space for Lu Ji.
Lu Ji didn't even look at her, he sat down on the carriage with his sword and horse, and called out to the driver outside: "Let's go!"
The carriage was rolling along, and the little girl was so tired that she could not even sit still. She grabbed the handrail on the wall of the carriage, leaned her head against the hard wall, closed her eyes and fell into a daze.
The carriage bumped slightly and her head was hit, so she was forced to wake up again. She let go of her hands that were holding the wall of the carriage and rubbed her forehead. She had no strength in her body. Her hands suddenly loosened and she was about to fall on Lu Ji. She was afraid of provoking him again, so she staggered and sat up steadily.
After a while, Qin Xiaoning couldn't help but close her eyes again. In a daze, she felt her body go empty and thought she was going to lose weight and fall again. She suddenly opened her eyes and found that she was already in Lu Ji's arms.
The girl woke up from the refreshing breath from him, and immediately put her arms around his waist, staring at him with her eyes, and asked timidly, "Are you calm now?"
Lu Ji didn't look at her, nor did he say anything, his face still tense.
The little girl was very sleepy and didn't want to talk anymore, so she simply curled up in his comfortable arms and closed her eyes again.
But her little hands tightly grasped his clothes, as if she was afraid that he would run away again.
In fact, she was terribly afraid of losing him.
He is a son of a wealthy family, holds great power and is at the highest position, having more than most people in the world.
As for her, she only has him.
She was used to being cared for by him. Although she was clear-headed and knew that he couldn't protect her forever, she was still afraid if he really abandoned her suddenly.
The little girl was so tired that she fell into a deep sleep. When she opened her eyes again, it was already midnight. She was lying on the big bed in the main house of Qingsong Garden. She slept comfortably in the warm quilt. She didn't know when the medicine bag for relieving pain was clamped between her legs.
But the side of me is empty.
Lu Ji is not here.
Qin Xiaoning quickly put on her clothes and stood up, not even bothering to put on her shoes. She trotted to open the door and asked the little maid who was keeping watch outside, "Where is the prince?"
The little maid was leaning against the door, sound asleep. When she heard the voice, she raised her hand and rubbed her eyes: "The prince is in the study."
Qin Xiaoning raised her eyes and glanced at the clock on the wall. It was already past midnight.
"Is there anyone coming and going in the study? Is the prince not coming back today? Is he going to stay in the study?"
The little maid yawned, then squinted at the clock on the wall and said, "Ah! It's so late already." She guessed, "If the prince doesn't come back by now, he will definitely not be able to come back."
Then he advised Qin Xiaoning, "Miss Qin, you should go to sleep."
Qin Xiaoning couldn't sleep at all.
In the past, as long as he was in the capital, he would always come back overnight. Even if he was busy until late at night, he would still come back.
The little girl felt uneasy, so she went out with a lantern and headed straight for Lu Ji's study. When she reached the door, she happened to run into Zhu Feng who came out to pour water for washing. When he saw Qin Xiaoning, Zhu Feng was surprised: "Miss Qin, why are you here in the middle of the night?"
"Is the prince busy with official business?" Qin Xiaoning stood on tiptoe and looked into the study: "Or is he asleep?"
Zhu Feng also looked inside the house, and then lowered his voice and said, "Master didn't say he wanted to sleep in the study, but he just asked me to fetch water and wash up, and it doesn't look like he wants to leave."
When Qin Xiaoning heard this, she immediately lost her temper. She didn't even bother to ask Zhufeng to pass the message and walked into the study.
Lu Ji had taken off even his outer clothes, and was only wearing his bedtime clothes, standing in front of the bookshelf picking out books.
The little girl suddenly opened the door, and the autumn wind rushed into the house. Lu Ji frowned in fear: "It's the middle of the night, why don't you just sleep in the house? Why are you running here?"
The little girl turned around and closed the door. She didn't come forward, but stood at the door. She looked at Lu Ji coldly and asked, "Are you going to stay in the study again?"
Lu Ji sneered: "Are you going to control me again? Huh?"
The last word "hmm" has an upward tone, which carries a defiant meaning.
The girl rolled her eyes at the man and said angrily, "I am a nobody, so how dare I control you?"
Lu Ji rolled his eyes at her: "I'm glad you know."
Seeing that he was deliberately making trouble for her, the little girl held her breath and said coldly, "I don't care about you, but don't bother me from now on. It's none of your business what book I want to read or who I want to borrow it from."
When Lu Ji heard this, he threw the book in his hand onto the bookshelf with a bang, then walked over and stood in front of her, his eyes burning with anger: "Qin Xiaoning, haven't you been slapped enough?"
He gritted his teeth again: "Didn't you learn enough of your lesson? I didn't hit you too lightly that day, did I?"
As he was about to come over to pick her up, the little girl immediately got scared and quickly protected her butt, repeatedly saying, "That's not what I meant."
Seeing this, Lu Ji let her go, but threatened: "If you mess with me again, I'll show you how I'll deal with you."
The little girl took two steps back, away from him.
Lu Ji rolled his eyes at her and said, "Go back." His voice was cold, "Why are you here making trouble in the middle of the night?"
After saying that, he left the man behind, turned around and ran to the inner room of the study.
Qin Xiaoning saw him leave, tears welled up in her eyes, she choked and said, "When I don't do what you want, you ignore me. You've been away for seven or eight days without even saying hello. When have I ever been so cruel to you when you provoke me?"
Mentioning this, the little girl felt very aggrieved. She choked up and couldn't speak for a long time. After a long while, she raised her hand to wipe away her tears and continued to accuse the man: "My devotion to you is not equal to your devotion to me. Your thoughts about me are far from my thoughts about you. No matter how much you provoke me, I can't bear to let you suffer for too long."
As she spoke, she raised her hand to wipe away her tears and said angrily, "That's right. You are the high and mighty prince, and I am just an orphan. There is a huge difference between our statuses, and I shouldn't ask for fairness from you."
Seeing her crying so sadly, Lu Ji stopped, turned around and frowned, "Don't talk nonsense when you are angry, okay?"
The little girl turned her face away, sobbed and wiped her tears, trying to calm herself down. When she spoke again, her voice was calm.
She turned to look at Lu Ji: "If you are tired of me, I will not pester you. Qingsongyuan is your yard. You don't have to stay here to avoid me. I will move out tonight. Please go back to your room and sleep, my lord."
As she spoke, she bowed to him, turned around, pushed the door open and left the room.
The autumn wind outside blew in again and hit Lu Ji's face. Before he could come to his senses, the slender figure disappeared into the night.
