Chapter 204 Silver Snake
The afterglow of the setting sun shines on the stone walls of the castle, casting a layer of golden glow.
The two ten-year-old children pushed open the heavy door together and entered the castle. They were greeted by a long corridor with paintings and tapestries hanging on the walls on both sides. However, the colors of the paintings had faded, and the lines on the tapestries had become blurred, as if everything was covered with a layer of dust. At the end of the corridor was a huge glass window. The scenery outside the window was illuminated by the afterglow of the sunset, like a dream, but the window glass was covered with cracks, as if it would break at any time.
The girl timidly grabbed the boy's clothes. She held a lamp and whispered, "Brother, why don't we go back? Dad won't let us run around."
The boy put his index finger to his lips, his light golden eyes full of seriousness and nervousness. "Keep your voice down, Lilia, don't you want to see your mother?"
Lilia clenched the lamp in her hand, her big doll-like eyes flickered with tears in them: "I want to see you."
Harvest held his sister's hand and whispered as they walked, "I don't care how my godfather will punish me. I must see my mother today. Besides, my father and godfather are no longer good brothers. He won't watch me being punished by my godfather."
The two walked through the long corridor together. The dark and quiet atmosphere was chilling. After all, they were still two half-grown children, and it was inevitable that they would be afraid in this gloomy castle.
They walked up the spiral staircase, passed the magnificent banquet hall, and went to the top floor.
Harvis heard servants in the royal court mention this place, saying that a queen named Daisy once lived here. They also said that his godfather rebuilt this place for his mother.
Lilia held up the light and looked for the direction. She asked, "Brother, are you sure mom is here?"
Harvest nodded, "My servants saw with their own eyes that godfather went into the attic every night and came out the next morning."
"Then how can we be sure that he is going to see his mother?"
"Because his eyes are red every morning when he comes out."
I don't know what the reason was for my father and godfather to quarrel, and they even beat each other. After that, my godfather ordered people to expel my father and never let him enter the imperial court again.
Havis clenched his fists. He held Lilia's hand and saw that his sister's face, which looked very much like her mother, was full of confusion. So he said, "Do you know why Dad always holds you in his arms and stares blankly?"
The tip of Lilia's nose was a little red. She said, "Because Dad misses Mom."
Harvest nodded, "Don't cry, Lilia, we must find mom for dad today."
Harvey had seen Luka sitting alone late at night several times.
In his impression, his father's shoulders were so broad, like a mountain, as if no difficulty in the universe could defeat him. His father's figure was so tall that he would let Lilia ride on his shoulders and take them to see the stars.
But after my mother left, my father's shoulders were always drooped. He rarely spoke and did not socialize with others. His hair, which was always combed meticulously in the past, was now unkempt every day. There were many scars on his arms, and the one on his wrist was the deepest, and it looked like a centipede. From the wrist to the elbow of the forearm, dense scars stretched across his skin.
Harvest asked Bonnie who had hurt his father.
Bonnie lowered his eyes in frustration and said, "It was Dad himself."
The two children finally found the entrance to the top floor. They walked in and found that the lights here were bright, which was completely different from the desolate place in the castle. The center of the hall was covered with thick red velvet carpet, which was as soft as clouds. On both sides of the carpet were gorgeous golden railings, which were carved with exquisite patterns and designs, shining with metallic luster. The hall was surrounded by huge marble columns, each of which was carved with intricate patterns and designs, and the top of the column was decorated with golden statues, as if quietly guarding the glory of this palace.
Lilia was shocked by this gorgeous scene. She grew up in the imperial court and was raised like a little princess by the imperial court. She had seen many good things, but she had never felt such a luxurious palace. Harveys trotted around to the gilded glass window of the inner hall and gestured to Lilia. Lilia hurried over, and Harveys asked her to step on his shoulders and lifted her up high.
Lilia leaned on the window sill and looked inside. She saw that the decoration inside was even more gorgeous than the outside. It was surrounded by gorgeous silk curtains embroidered with gold thread, depicting intricate patterns, like a series of gorgeous paintings.
She tried to see through the curtains and saw a huge crystal coffin. Just as she stood on tiptoe to see the person lying inside, Harvest fell to the ground, and Lilia fell on him.
"Is Mom in there?"
Lilia said uncertainly: "I didn't see clearly but Uncle Libery wasn't in there. Why don't we sneak in and take a look?"
Havis nodded, helped Lilia up, and pulled her quietly into the inner hall.
As soon as the two of them came in, they felt like they had entered an ice cellar.
Lilia hugged her shoulders and shivered.
"Brother, why is it so cold here? Mom won't stay in here. She will catch a cold."
Harves was no longer the playful kid he was a few years ago. He vaguely knew something but didn't tell Lilia. He walked towards the crystal coffin in silence and cautiously. Lilia followed closely behind him.
The two walked up the stairs and finally saw the person lying inside.
Her long hair cascaded down like a waterfall, soft and smooth, shining with luster. Her face was as white as snow, with delicate features, and her eyes were gently closed, as if she was deeply in a dream. Her lips were as soft as rose petals, with a hint of natural redness.
"It's Mom!" Lilia shouted excitedly.
She saw her mother's hands folded in front of her chest, her fingertips slender, and she was wearing a gorgeous silk dress. She was surrounded by heavy velvet curtains, embroidered with gold thread, depicting intricate flowers and vines. The room was filled with a faint floral fragrance, as if it had drifted from her dreams, filling the entire space with peace and tranquility.
Lilia wanted to rush over and hug her tightly, but the next second, a silver snake appeared from nowhere, opening its bloody mouth and baring its fangs at her.
Havis immediately stood in front of Lilia, and the two children fell to the ground. Fortunately, the snake didn't really want to bite them to death, it just wanted to scare them.
The silver snake swam in the crystal coffin, and its vertical pupils issued a warning. The surroundings were immediately caught in an irresistible mental pressure. Neither Havis nor Lilia could bear this pressure.
Havis decisively took Lilia's hand and ran out of the hall. Suddenly, the pressure dissipated.
"Brother, who was that just now?"
"I saw him once when I was a kid." Harves looked into the hall with a complicated look. Although he had never seen the man in beast form, he remembered his mental strength and aura. "So he has been guarding my mother all this time..."
