Chapter 210 Carl's Hallucination
Hallucinogens are federally classified as Schedule I contraband.
But the earliest hallucinogens were used in medical treatment to calm violent orcs. Therefore, doctors like Kai could obtain them in small quantities after reporting them.
It was he who gave Carl the hallucinogens, and this was the thing he regretted most in his life, bar none.
At first, Carl was just an alcoholic. He would get drunk every day and wake up in various places the next day, and then repeat the steps of the previous day: drink, fight, get drunk, abuse, sleep on the roadside, wake up, drink, fight
He was imprisoned three times for disturbing the peace, and each time it was Kay who went to the federal prison to rescue him.
Because Carl used to work as a scavenger, some of the friends or descendants of those he assassinated learned of his whereabouts, followed him when he was drunk, stabbed him four or five times in the back, and once almost cut off his hand.
However, Carl did not fight back at all. He lay on the ground and laughed, making the other person feel scared and his face was covered with tears.
If Kai hadn't arrived in time every time, Carl would have died as he wished.
One time, Kai was so angry that he grabbed his collar and lifted him up, asking him why he lived like a puddle of mud. Carl's smile was uglier than crying.
"Because I would have died a long time ago," said Carl.
Kai understood what he meant.
The person he loved died, and he himself died on that day. Only his body was alive.
Carl would not try to commit suicide like Scorsese did, because he couldn't bear to do it. He always fantasized: What if, what if I die before she wakes up? Wouldn't that be a loss?
So he didn't have the courage to commit suicide.
But he couldn't survive a single day without her during those long days.
Kai knew his character. If he continued to do this, he would really kill himself.
So for the first time, in a non-medical way, he injected a medical version of a hallucinogen, intended to calm Carl's nerves.
After the injection, Carl did get better. He stopped drinking and even spent time dressing himself up to look less miserable. He would sit from early morning to dusk holding a bouquet of flowers, and no one knew what he was waiting for.
Kai thought all this was a process of getting better.
But he was wrong.
The side effects of hallucinogens are addiction, and they are accompanied by hallucinations and a series of physiological symptoms. Patients will initially feel that the hallucinations are very real, but after waking up, they will regain cognition and clearly know that they are hallucinations. Only people with extreme pain will become dependent on hallucinations, and even if they clearly know that they are hallucinations later, they cannot extricate themselves.
Although Kay was very careful to give him a very small dose, Carl still had hallucinations.
He hugged the soft and thin body again. The scent of lily of the valley surrounded him. Her hair brushed his cheek. She smiled and said to him, "Karl, if you do this again, I will ignore you."
Karl hugged her tightly nervously and refused to let go. “Don’t go. I won’t make you angry. Don’t go.”
"Sui Sui, I miss you so much"
"You promised me that you would have a home with me and not leave me alone"
"Why are your hands so cold? Why won't you look at me?"
"Can you look at me, please?"
"Will you take me away?"
Carl woke up from his bed, crying, his pillow was soaked. The hallucinogen was gradually metabolized in his body and began to lose its effect.
He stared blankly at the mirror in the ward, saw his stubble and dark face, and hurriedly got out of bed.
"You can't meet her like this, she will change her mind"
Karl took care of himself seriously for the first time in a long time, put on new clothes, bought her favorite bouquet of flowers, then lay on the bed, closed his eyes, and prepared to see her again.
But this time, he couldn't fall asleep.
He went out and ran twenty laps again, came back sweating all over, and lay back on the bed, holding a bouquet of flowers in his hand with a smile on his face.
Ten minutes passed, one hour passed, three hours passed
Carl had trouble sleeping.
He coaxed himself and said to himself: "Go to sleep, she is waiting for you in the dream, she is going to take you away, go to sleep quickly."
Finally, after countless attempts, Carl finally fell into a light sleep, but this time, he did not see the person he wanted to see.
After waking up, he sat by the window holding a bouquet of flowers, motionless. The sun rose and fell, until the moon shone on his shoulders, he slowly got up, sneaked into the pharmacy in the dead of night, and took away all of Kay's hallucinogens.
He used a hack to get to the small building, the room where he used to live, took off his shirt, and injected himself with a shot of hallucinogen.
Karl lowered his head, waiting for something. A few seconds later, he heard footsteps coming from the door. Then a little head poked in from the door, with a timid look on his face. After seeing him, he asked in surprise, "Are you okay?"
"Wait a minute, I'll find some tools to help you."
Karl stared at her blankly, a feeling welled up in his throat, and his eyes suddenly turned red.
The same scene, the same expression, this was the first time he came to her hotel, and she saw what he said when he was cleaning the wound.
Karl smiled, and a tear instantly fell. He looked at her and repeated his old words, but his tone was full of nostalgia and tenderness.
"Need not."
"come here."
He watched Qiao Suisui coming over, threw away the injection in his hand, and hugged her.
"What are you doing?"
"how do I?"
Carl repeated his conversation with her. At this moment, his face was already covered with tears. However, he still pretended to be relaxed and choked up: "You haven't seen it? I thought you were Scorsese's female. At least you have seen this kind of small scene. After all, compared with the injuries he has suffered, my little drizzle is really... a small witch compared to a big witch."
She should have felt sick because of her own prank, but unexpectedly, the 'Qiao Sui Sui' in the hallucination reached out and hugged him back.
Carl's tears welled up and he could no longer hold them back.
He hugged her and broke down crying.
"Why did you abandon me? Why didn't you take me away?"
"You're so bad to me"
"Let me go with you, I can't wait any longer."
"Please, take me away."
The picture was distorted, and Carl opened his eyes suddenly, with the tears on his face not yet dry.
He looked around in a daze and found that he was still in the room of the small building, but there was no one around and the room had not been cleaned for a long time and was covered with a thick layer of dust.
Karl wiped the tears from his face and gave himself another injection with an expressionless face.
In the hallucination, footsteps were heard at the door again.
A little head popping up, a timid expression, and a petite figure.
"Are you okay?"
"Wait a minute, I'll find some tools to help you."
Karl called her calmly and said gently, “No. Come here.”
Over and over and over again.
The floor is full of injections.
Carl kept repeating the hallucination while awake, and then sank into the hallucination while awake.
"Are you okay?"
".I miss you so much."
"Wait a minute, I'll find some tools to help you."
"I really miss you."
