Chapter 32: Indifferent and Traceless
In the darkness, Chen Ruogu pressed the button to turn on the light in the living room.
The light shines into the spacious living room, and the soft tones exude warmth and harmony.
Yu Yuan sat back on the sofa, looking up at her with eyes full of warmth and love. He reached out to Ruogu, who did not hesitate. She walked towards him and asked in a low voice:
"Did something happen at the company? Why are you sitting in the living room all of a sudden?"
Yu Yuan held her in his arms while he slept at night, so she could sense any slight movement. After much hesitation, she finally followed him.
Yu Yuan held her in his arms expressionlessly and gently stroked her hand as if he was playing with a precious piece of jewellery. Ruogu ignored the strange feeling in her heart and looked up at him with a hint of doubt in her eyes.
Yu Yuan didn't intend to hide it from her. Sooner or later she would notice the overwhelming news on the Internet. Instead of waiting for her to question him angrily, it would be better for him to explain it in person.
He turned on the screen of his mobile phone and showed her the most searched term. Ruogu frowned slightly, sat up straight subconsciously and clicked on the photo that seemed to be kissing.
She was looking at the photo, but Yu Yuan was staring at her face, not missing any subtle changes in her expression.
Chen Ruogu pursed her lips tightly, trying to control her emotions. She didn't dare to continue watching. After pressing the lock screen button, she asked helplessly and heartbrokenly: "This matter...how are you going to deal with it?"
There was an unconcealable sadness in her words, and that aggrieved expression was like a sharp knife, piercing deeply into Yu Yuan's heart.
She lowered her head, unwilling to look him in the eye. Yu Yuan held her face with his warm hands, gently stroking her clear and tender skin with his fingertips. He looked at her intently and said seriously:
"The trending news is fake, and the photo is a visual effect created by borrowing positions. I have no other contact with the other party except for work."
A tear welled up from the corner of Chen Ruogu's eye, and it slid down her cheek. Yu Yuan clenched his fists tightly, and held her in his arms, suppressing the pain in his heart.
"Don't cry... I have never lied to you in all these years of marriage. The studio will soon release a clarification statement. Zhou Tong's scenes will all be deleted. I will find someone else to reshoot and will hold her accountable for the legal consequences."
Chen Ruogu felt the even rise and fall of Yu Yuan's heartbeat. Although there were traces of tears on her face, her eyes were indifferent, as if nothing could stir up any waves in her heart.
She tightened her grip on Yu Yuan's arm a little more, and said in a trembling voice:
"Will reshooting delay the release of the film? Will the money invested previously be wasted?"
Yu Yuan's rough palm slid down her back to help her relax. He said in a cold voice, "It doesn't matter if the progress is delayed. The invested funds will be recovered sooner or later, but the reputation and public opinion cannot be affected."
As for Zhou Tong, Yu Yuan disdained to mention her, which showed how much he hated her. It would be her own destruction if she met Yu Yuan's stubborn character. Ruogu secretly warned herself to be careful.
She looked up at him, her eyes like the morning mist, hazy and beautiful, and hesitantly asked, "Are you... leaving?"
Her face looked soft and mysterious under the dim light, and her figure was even more curvy in the light and shadow, like a painting, intoxicating...
Yu Yuan stared at her intently, his eyes deep and silent, his Adam's apple rolled, and he said in a hoarse voice: "I have to go back and deal with this matter myself. I really can't stay at home any longer..."
The two of them were so close that his body felt as hot as fire; his heartbeat and breathing became rapid and heavy.
Chen Ruogu was not an innocent girl. When she realized something was wrong, her flexible waist was already tightly restrained.
His hand caressed her cheek, his face resting gently against her lips, causing her to feel an emotional rush she had never felt before.
Ruogu bit his lower lip tightly and leaned back slightly. When the two breaths intertwined and lingered, it was like a spring breeze blowing across the lake, causing waves to rise and fall...
As the morning light pierces through the heavy clouds, the breeze blows and the leaves fall quietly.
Yu Yuan gently opened his eyes, and what he saw was Ruogu's peaceful and beautiful sleeping face in his arms.
Her soft hair slid down his chest, and Yu Yuan's arms around her slender waist tightened slightly. Time seemed to stand still at this moment.
Until Ruogu stretched gently, she looked at him with a hint of confusion and laziness in her eyes.
The unintentional amorous feelings caused ripples in his heart. Yu Yuan suppressed the impulse deep in his heart and said in a steady voice: "Are you feeling better?"
Ruogu's cheeks flushed slightly. Yu Yuan's every move was full of power, and her skin, nourished by the true energy, was extremely delicate. She had suffered a lot last night. She gently broke free from his restraints and Ruogu said softly:
"Huaixi has to go to school after breakfast. If you don't explain it to her in advance, she will be angry if she doesn't see you when she comes back. If she ignores you, don't come to me to beg for mercy."
Yu Yuan's expression was slightly tense. His wife was the apple of his eye, and his daughter was also a treasure in his palm. Neither of them could be ignored. He stepped on the floor barefoot and said calmly:
"Then I'll change my clothes and chat with Xixi for a while. You wait for us to have breakfast together."
Ruogu nodded in agreement, and only after he had packed up and left did she get up and get dressed.
There were two crabs left from the one she bought yesterday. She put them in the refrigerator while they were still fresh and used them to make porridge when she got up early.
When Ruogu served the porridge and put it on the table to cool, the father and daughter had not yet come downstairs.
He Hui's hair was messy, and he carefully looked at her face when he entered the room. Ruogu knew what was going on, but she just pretended not to know and said calmly:
"Xiao He, come and have some porridge first. Sister Yang's crab porridge is delicious."
He Hui scratched his head in distress. He could no longer care about the food. He asked worriedly, "Sister-in-law, did you get up early to check the hot news?"
Chen Ruogu smiled and said calmly, "I knew about this last night. The photo was taken with a borrowed camera. Brother Yuan will go back to the company today to deal with it. Except for the new movie, everything else is not a problem."
He Hui was dumbfounded. He hesitated and lowered his voice and asked, "You believe him so easily?"
Chen Ruogu found his reaction very funny. Her fingers were as soft as willow branches, with a faint pink hue on the tips. She picked up the pickled radish that Sister Yang had made with chopsticks and said casually:
"If I don't trust him, who should I trust? Aren't there enough women who have thrown themselves at him? If I'm suspicious all day long, I'll never have peace. I can't hold on to the position of Mrs. Yu, and no one else can get involved. He's the one I should be thinking about all day long." How could He Hui, a bachelor who had been single all his life, understand the deep meaning of Ruogu's last stern words? He said dully:
"Sister-in-law, just know what's going on. I won't worry about it."
Chen Ruogu handed him a boiled egg that had been rinsed with cold water and said in a gentle tone:
"I appreciate your kindness. Just focus on your work. Other things will work out as time goes by. Don't worry too much."
As soon as she finished speaking, Yu Yuan brought Huai Xi over. The disappointment on her daughter's face was obvious. Ruogu walked to her side with a smile, put his arm around her shoulders and said:
"Try Sister Yang's crab porridge first. You will feel much better after eating it. Although your father is too busy at work to come, you have a vacation. In two weeks, you will have a short vacation. You can go and accompany him then."
Huai Xi's eyes lit up, and she subconsciously looked at Yu Yuan to ask for his opinion. Yu Yuan was putting the peeled eggs into Ruogu's bowl. His eyebrows relaxed and he said in a doting tone:
"As long as you don't act naughty, you can go anywhere you want to play, but it's best to bring your mother with you."
He looked at Ruogu with a restrained and forbearing look. Huaixi didn't understand. She said briskly, "That depends on whether Mom is free. There's still some time before the short holiday, so I have to plan carefully."
Although there is sadness of parting at the table, there is also joy of looking forward to reunion.
Han Shuo came to pick people up just after breakfast. He had deep dark circles around his eyes, his face was dull and lifeless, and he looked exhausted, obviously having stayed up late the night before.
Han Shuo was more shrewd than He Hui. He knew from Yu Yuan's expression that the trending search had no impact on the couple. He walked forward with a grin on his face, accompanied by a tall and thin young man.
Han Shuo could tell the difference between the big and small kings. He first said politely to Ruogu:
"Sister-in-law, this is Xie Bin. He will be responsible for the post-production operations of the video in the future. If you have any ideas, you can communicate with him directly."
Ruogu took a look at Xie Bin and saw that he had an outstanding appearance, a casual hairstyle, and the clothes he wore were not very particular. The look in his eyes when he looked at her and Yu Yuan was very calm, and he looked like a capable man.
Ruogu never puts on airs. She said politely, "I'll be working hard for you in the future. You will mainly be working with Zhengzheng. You two can get to know each other first so that you can get into work mode faster."
Xie Bin nodded reservedly, and Chi Zhengzheng hurriedly walked forward with a smile and tried to get close to him. Chen Ruogu was not worried that the two would not get along well, because Zhengzheng had an extroverted personality, a pleasing appearance, and good social skills.
Han Shuo stood beside Yu Yuan and whispered something to him. Ruogu and Huaixi were not curious to hear what was going on. After Yu Yuan nodded, Han Shuo glanced at Ruogu and asked, "Can we set off now?"
Yu Yuan looked unhappy. His mood of parting was like the falling leaves in autumn, chaotic and heavy. His eyes were full of affection. He reached out to straighten the buttons on Ruogu's chest and said in a deep voice: "I have to go. Remember to reply to my message..."
Ruogu looked at him with tolerance and calmness. She nodded slightly and said, "Be careful on the road and don't be impulsive when encountering problems."
Yu Yuan nodded in agreement, then turned and got into the car. He lowered the window and looked at Ruogu deeply as if he wanted to imprint her in his heart.
Not until the car drove away and disappeared did Huai Xi carry his schoolbag and go to school. The three of them seemed to have had a beautiful dream of a brief reunion, and now everything has returned to normal.
Ruogu looked normal, but only she knew that there were thousands of thoughts tangled together in her heart, as difficult to sort out as a tangled mess...
On the eighth floor of the inpatient department of the People's Hospital, Mr. Qian, who was rescued by Ruogu with acupuncture, was sitting on the hospital bed eating a banana. His original symptoms of crooked mouth and squinting eyes had been alleviated a lot, and he looked no different from a normal person.
Lying on the bed next to him was Hu Guofeng, a few years younger than him, who was suffering from hemiplegia due to a stroke. Old Hu was eating millet porridge. He couldn't control his expression and saliva was flowing from the corners of his mouth. His wife patiently wiped it for him.
Uncle Qian glanced at him and said with deep emotion:
"Brother Hu, you are so lucky. During the few days I was in the hospital, I saw your wife busy taking care of you. She never felt tired or dirty. She thought of ways to supplement your nutrition every day. It was not easy."
Hu Guofeng's wife cleared the dishes, poured hot water, and wrung out a towel to wipe his hands and face. After she was done, she had time to say:
"I am supposed to do all this. When I was young and had my baby, he took care of me personally and never let me suffer. Over the years, he has not taken a single day off to make life better for me and my children, and has exhausted his body."
Uncle Qian said with envy: "Brother Hu is a family man, and you care about him. Such a relationship between husband and wife is really good. How many couples wish that the other party would die sooner before their life is over? If I had hemiplegia, I might not be able to count on my wife. Fortunately, I met Doctor Chen."
Hu Guofeng's wife wrung out the towel and hung it up to dry. Upon hearing this, she asked curiously:
"Is this Doctor Chen really that powerful? Could it be that your condition wasn't that serious to begin with?"
Uncle Qian waved his hands quickly and glared, "That's impossible. I thought I was going to die, but as soon as she gave me the needle, I felt a stream of energy flowing through my body. After a while, I felt my mind clear. Without Doctor Chen's injection, I would never have recovered."
Seeing his wife looking thoughtful, Hu Guofeng said vaguely:
"Brother, where is Doctor Chen from?"
Uncle Qian patted his thigh and said, "You have asked the right person. I asked my daughter and son-in-law to come to thank her. They said that Doctor Chen opened a Chinese medicine clinic near Wanling Middle School. Although it is new, it has a good reputation. You two may want to go and have a look."
Hu Guofeng looked at his wife with some hesitation, as if he knew what he was thinking. His wife comforted him:
"There's no harm in going and seeing a doctor. If it really can't be cured, we can just treat it as a Chinese doctor's treatment. You've become so skinny that you're almost unrecognizable."
There was a struggle in Hu Guofeng's eyes, and Uncle Qian quickly chimed in:
"Brother Hu, it's hard to find a good Chinese doctor like this. If he can really cure you, it will be worth the trip."
Hu Guofeng no longer had any hope for his health, but he just didn't want his wife to have to work too hard to take care of him, so he finally nodded and agreed.
The elderly couple went to Jishidiang the day after they were discharged from the hospital. There were quite a few patients seeking treatment. In front of them was a mother and son who were suffering from growing pains.
Seeing Chen Ruogu, the older sister said happily: "Doctor Chen, my son's pain is gone and he can sleep well at night. Thank you so much."
Ruogu smiled lightly and said softly, "It has just gotten better. Sister, don't take it lightly. You have to feed the child more high-protein food in the future. Sometimes medicine is not as good as food."
The elder sister nodded hurriedly, "I've remembered it all. The growth of a child is a big deal, and we can't let him suffer any more losses."
There were too many patients in Jishidiang, even Xie Bin was drafted in to serve as a soldier, so Ruogu didn't have time to talk to them in detail.
After inserting the needle into the boy, she hurried over to take Hu Guofeng's pulse while the needle was still in the body.
I just want to ask, is this chapter greasy? I revised it several times...
