Chapter 26 Awakening
The sun shone on the high priest, but he could no longer feel any warmth. The crocodile tribe all liked to bask in the sun and play in the water, but he was not interested in anything now.
The girl's eyelashes trembled slightly, and she tried to open her eyes and whispered, "Don't cry, Master Priest, didn't we succeed in praying for rain?"
Mu Hui stared at the kitten in front of him with surprise. Although it still looked a little weak and pale, he felt that the world was much brighter now.
The tone of his pleading was extremely humble.
"Kitten, if you don't wake up, I really want to use the evil magic I have studied to find you back. I am so scared. You are lying there motionless."
"Please don't put yourself in danger, it hurts so much here."
The high priest covered his chest with his hands and pursed his lips, looking like a poor and humble beggar.
A Yao wanted to speak again, but was choked by his saliva.
The high priest hurriedly helped her calm down, and A Yao could only feel the sighs above his head.
"Kitty, you are just bullying me because I can't be angry with you. I am really scared to death by you."
A Yao gathered his strength and put his head against the high priest's forehead, making the strand of white hair particularly conspicuous.
"Mu Hui, I like you a little bit."
The golden eyes were trembling, and the man felt like his soul was about to float up. His robe became wrinkled, but he didn't care much because the high priest was such a meticulous person.
I have been overwhelmed by the sudden happiness.
Mu Hui gently rubbed the girl's face without making any rude movements.
He muttered, "I'm very happy, but you are not allowed to do anything dangerous again, otherwise I would rather you don't like me, hate me, I just want you to be safe."
A Yao just felt dizzy and could hardly hear what Mu Hui was saying.
"I'm taking a nap. I feel dizzy."
Mu Hui restrained himself and stretched out his hand to catch A Yao's body, then gently put her back on the bed and covered her with animal skin.
The sound of bull horns rang out in the Beast City. Six strong male orcs carried a gorgeous carriage with the royal emblem engraved on it. Lu Bei sat on the carriage indifferently, and the atmosphere was frighteningly low.
All the orcs knelt on one knee in front of Lu Bei on the chase cart and made way for them on both sides.
The high priest stood in the distance, his fists clenched so hard that they made crackling sounds.
The carriage reached Mu Hui, and Lu Bei instantly arrived under the tree house, but was stopped by the high priest.
"Ayao is just a tool in your eyes, right?"
Lu Bei missed A Yao for a long time. When he saw Mu Hui blocking his arm, his face became even gloomier. He said in a bad tone: "Mu Hui, what do you mean?"
Mu Hui's mental strength was as terrifying as a mountain pressing down on one's head, and the golden light in his eyes was shining brightly.
"You didn't teach Ayao anything and left her in Beast City. But you came back as a deer king."
"Do you know that although her mental strength is strong, it is not stable at all? You don't regard A Yao as your wife at all!"
Lu Bei's face didn't look much better either. The veins on his hands bulged. He tried to straighten his back and grabbed Mu Hui's collar.
He asked word by word: "Ayao, what happened to her?"
Mu Hui looked at the royal guards around him, and without completely slapping the little deer king's face, he just said, "Follow me."
The tree house was quiet; the only sound was Ayao's heavy breathing. The girl lying on the bed looked frighteningly weak.
Lu Bei took two steps instead of three and walked over. He stretched out his big hand to check, but Mu Hui slapped his hand aside.
The high priest's face was full of cruelty and murderousness, with none of his usual gentleness and elegance.
"Ayao defied fate and the will of the Beast God, causing a heavy rain to fall on the Beast City."
"If you really treat her as your wife, why didn't you teach her anything? She is now weak and hasn't woken up for many days." Lu Bei was speechless. He had followed A Yao for a long time, but he wanted to control her to be obedient, so he never told her anything about the Beast God.
Lu Bei looked at the weak little man, his tone was unusually unnatural.
"I, I, I didn't know she would be so reckless."
Mu Hui bared his teeth, he had already reached his limit of endurance.
The golden pupils stood up: "The beastmen are afraid of the royal family, afraid of you, the Little Deer King, but I am not afraid. You can't take A Yao away, you are not worthy."
The person on the bed was awakened by the agitated spiritual power and voice. A Yao said softly, "Don't pay attention to him. I'm fine now. Master Priest, please bring me a bowl of water."
Mu Hui snorted coldly, but finally obediently went to the pottery jar in the corner, filled a bowl with water, and carefully brought it to A Yao's mouth.
Only then did Lu Bei notice that A Yao's hair had turned white. If the orcs' white hair was not natural, then it would shorten their lifespan.
A Yao drank the water in small sips and licked his dry lips.
"Black Deer, I don't blame you, but I won't agree to be with you either."
Lu Bei knew that he could not beat Mu Hui, so he could only stand there and stare at A Yao without blinking, his scarlet eyes filled with grievance and regret.
He quickly replied: "I'm sorry, Ayao, I really didn't know you also had the ability of a priest. Deer God, I really didn't intend to harm you. I will be responsible for you."
A Yao's eyes were heavy, and she glanced at the little deer king with her inky phoenix eyes. She raised her hand and smashed the bowl of water to the ground. She had no strength now, and she couldn't fall to the place where Lu Bei was standing.
Her voice was distant, cold and emotionless.
"No need. I don't want you to be responsible."
The girl rolled up the animal skin and covered herself with it, then turned away, leaving only her thin back to Lu Bei.
Lu Bei wanted to explain, wanted to say that he missed A Yao a lot recently, wanted to say that what he did in the tribe was too much, wanted to say that he would serve A Yao well and let A Yao become a noble female orc in Beast King City.
However, Mu Hui pushed Lu Bei's shoulder, shook his head, and spoke in a firm but low voice.
"She is extremely weak now. Let's go out and let her rest alone."
In the tree house of the high priest sat two male orcs with swords drawn, Mu Hui's face was frighteningly dark, and Lu Bei's face looked crazy and ready to kill at any time.
The high priest finally sighed, rolled up his white robe, and said while carving on the tortoise shell: "I have never come into contact with female orcs, but at least I know that we should proceed step by step and treat others with empathy."
"Little Deer King, you have been with A Yao for so long, but you never taught her how to do things. Now she has hurt herself. Not only are you responsible, but I am also to blame."
"Did you know that Ayao's spiritual power can communicate with gods just like other priests?"
Lu Bei shook his head and murmured, "I've only seen her beat me vigorously. I didn't know that A Yao could communicate with gods."
The only sound left in the room was the faint rustling breathing.
The high priest didn't want to waste any more time talking to the little deer king. This crown prince was stupid and didn't even know it.
If you really like someone, why wouldn’t you be willing to spend more time observing them?
"I want to go up and take another look at A Yao."
Mu Hui was so angry after hearing this that he smashed the table in half. The high priest frowned and said, "You can't stand seeing A Yao being okay, can't you? Don't you know how to respect her wishes when doing things? Don't bother her to rest!"
The Crown Prince was of high status, and he really didn't respect anyone except himself.
But when he thought about how his own negligence and greed had shortened A Yao's life and turned his black hair into white, he felt very regretful and heartbroken.
He was like a child who had done something wrong. The precious treasure was so close to him, but he couldn't touch it.
The high priest used his iron hand to force the table back into place. The air pressure in the room was as low as the ice in the Far North, making people shiver with cold.
