Chapter 70 Born Guilty

Chapter 70 Born Guilty

After the little King Tommen finished speaking, he left under the escort of several knights.

The young King Tommen is now nothing more than a puppet.

After Tommen left, Tyrion's trial officially began.

This guy Tywin just sat on the Iron Throne, and no one in the venue said anything.

Tywin looked at his son Tyrion, and there was no sympathy for a relative in his eyes, but rather disgust.

"Tyrion of the Lannister family, you have been accused of regicide by the Queen Regent. Did you kill King Joffrey?"

Tyrion shook his head. "No."

"Did your wife, Lady Sansa, kill him?"

"Not that I know of."

"So how do you think he died?"

"Choked to death on pigeon pie."

"So you think the murderer is the baker?"

"Or pigeons, it's none of my business."

"Request to call the first witness."

A witness came forward and began to accuse Tyrion: "We had just rescued King Joffrey safely from the mob, and the Imp came out and scolded him. He slapped the king in the face and called the king a vicious fool and a fool. This is not the first time the Imp has threatened Joffrey. In this palace, he also came up and called the king a fool. He also compared His Majesty to the Mad King and said that he would end up like the Mad King. When I defended the king, the Imp threatened to kill me too."

Tyrion was speechless. "Why don't you tell them what Joffrey did? He aimed his crossbow at Sansa Stark, and you ripped her clothes off and beat her."

"Silence!" Tywin shouted, and Tyrion closed his mouth helplessly.

"You may not speak without the judge's permission. You may leave now, Sir Merlin."

Then, Grand Maester Pycelle testifies against Tyrion.

Pycelle said that his shop had a lot of poisons, but they were all looted by the devil.

Pycelle says he examined Joffrey's body and is certain he was poisoned.

Moreover, Pycelle also said that Sansa Stark, the wife of Tyrion, was taken away after Joffrey was poisoned to death, leaving behind a necklace in which a rare poison residue was found. He said that the poison was one of the medicines looted from his pharmacy.

Then came the speech of Tyrion's sister Cersei Lannister. Her speech was more about anger towards Tyrion, and she said that she would make Tyrion pay with blood.

Then there are the accusations made by the octopus-spider Varys against Tyrion.

"Call the next witness."

When he saw the witness, Tyrion's expression changed rarely, because the witness was his most beloved person, the military prostitute Shae.

Before attending the king's wedding, Tyrion asked Shae to leave quickly.

Because Tyrion realized that he had fallen in love with Shae. If Shae stayed here, at the center of this game of power, it would be easy for others to catch her, and Shae was his weak spot.

He asked Xue Yi to leave quickly, saying that he didn't love her because he didn't want to see the situation today.

But this situation still happened.

Shae walked past Tyrion without even looking at him.

Tyrion looked at Shae in disbelief. Was she going to testify against him?
Tywin said, "Tell me your name."

"Xue Yi."

"Do you dare to swear before the gods that your testimony is true?"

"I swear."

"Do you know this person?"

Shae glanced at Tyrion and then said, "I know him, Tyrion Lannister."

"How do you know him?"

"I am a handmaiden to his wife, Sansa Stark." "Did you know that this man was accused of murdering King Joffrey?"

"I know he is guilty. He and Sansa planned this together."

This Shae betrayed Tyrion.

There was an uproar at the scene. Tyrion the Devil sat on the bench in disbelief. His heart was broken.

He treated Xue Yi with a clear conscience, and made a promise to her that he would love her forever, but in the end, he got betrayal.

"Sansa Stark wants to avenge her father. She blames the king for his death. Tyrion is happy to help. He hates Joffrey, he hates the queen, and he hates you, my lord. He stole the poison from the Grand Maester's shop and put it in Joffrey's wine."

"How do you know all this? Why would he reveal his plans to his wife's maid?"

"I'm not just his maid, I'm his whore."

The scene was noisy again.

"How did you come to offer him this service?" Tywin asked.

"He stole me. I had a man at the time, a knight in your army, but as soon as Tyrion arrived at the camp, he sent a killer to sneak into our tent. He cut off the knight's arm and brought me to Tyrion. He said, you belong to me now."

The audience in the hearing room burst into laughter, and Tyrion felt mixed emotions.

Xue Yi continued: "I did everything he asked, everything he asked me to do, I kissed him wherever he wanted me to kiss, I obeyed him, I let him do whatever he wanted, I was his property, I was to be available in his room so that he could use me to entertain himself when he got bored. He ordered me to call him my lion, and I did so."

Tyrion said, "Shae, please stop talking."

"I was a whore, remember? That was before he married Sansa, and once they were married he only wanted her but she wouldn't let him have her, so he had to promise to kill Joffrey for her" Shae ignored Tyrion.

The scene was noisy again.

Haitang Duoduo sighed, "I remember this woman. I met her last time I went to Tyrion's place. I didn't expect her to be so vicious."

Ye Qi said, "Given Tyrion's current situation, testifying against him in court is what she thinks is the most appropriate way to save her life."

Tyrion couldn't bear it any longer, even the woman he loved most betrayed him.

"Father, I want to confess. I want to, confess!"

"Do you want to plead guilty?"

Tyrion looked at the people in the hearing room and said, "I saved you at the Battle of the Blackwater. I saved this city, and you, the untouchables. I should have let Stannis kill you!"

People were dissatisfied with Tyrion's speech and blamed him.

"Tyrion, do you wish to plead guilty?" Tywin asked again.

"Yes, father, I am guilty, I am guilty, that's what you want to hear."

"Do you admit to poisoning the king?"

"No, that has nothing to do with me. My sin far outweighs this. My sin is that I was born a dwarf!"

Tywin scoffed, "You are not being tried for being a dwarf."

"No, it is. My whole life has been on trial for this."

"Do you have anything else to say in your defense?"

"Only one. It wasn't me. I didn't kill Joffrey, but I wish I had. Watching that vicious bastard die was more satisfying than sleeping with a thousand whores. I wish I were the devil you think I was. I wish there was enough poison to kill all of you. I would die to see you swallow it."

Tywin stood up. "Ser Meryn, Ser Meryn, take this criminal back to the dungeons!"

Tyrion continued, "I will not die because of Joffrey's death. I know I will not get justice here, so I leave my fate in the hands of the gods. I demand trial by combat."

This world has a weird setting called "Trial by Combat".

If the defendant is dissatisfied with the verdict of the Lord's Court and believes that he has been wronged, he has the right to request a trial by combat. He can fight by himself or ask someone with strong kung fu skills to fight on his behalf. If the defendant wins the fight, the court must declare the defendant not guilty and cannot punish him in any way.

The tradition of trial by combat comes from the religious beliefs of the Seven Gods in Westeros. People believe that the gods will stand on the side of justice and help the innocent person when two warriors are trying to fight.
